Laura Sheppherd's August Sale!

Just a short walk from The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn is the atelier of Laura Sheppherd Salon de Couture, a local designer whose collections feature both ready to wear garments or one-of-a-kind made to order pieces.  Her designs reference fashion history, incorporating 19th century corsets, sensuous bias draping from the 1930's, and graphic designs from days of yore.  Along with gorgeous daytime and evening jackets and dresses, she has a large bridal collection.  Sheppherd uses stunning fabrics in all of her pieces, many being rare and antique, along with trims, lace and beaded laces made exclusively  for her in France and India.

Now is the perfect time to shop at this jewel of a store, as they are celebrating 15 years of business with 20-75% off both Summer and Winter Collections, now through the end of August.  Peruse the selection of Close out Bridal dresses, Cocktail and Long Dresses, Silk Separates and Velvets, Hats, Sweater, Leather Gloves and much more.

Shakespeare in the Park Back in Santa Fe

The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn is chock-a-block full of guests flocking to Santa Fe for the 92nd annual Indian Market Festival.  The market is the largest of its kind in the world, and is a mecca for both serious collectors of Native American arts as well as those just wanting to see what all the fuss is about.

After a long day of perusing the hundreds of booths of the market, you may want to head to Whole Foods for a picnic dinner (or purchase a pre-made box picnic onsite), and then enjoy an evening of Shakespeare taking place at the beautiful campus of St. John's College.  The performance, "All For Your Delight," is a medley of scenes and songs from Shakespeare's most popular comedies, and is affiliated with the highly acclaimed New York City Shakespeare Guild.  The production, directed by the prestigious Nagle Jackson, will feature highlights from A Midsummer Night's Dream, As You Like it, Pericles, The Taming of the Shrew, and other Shakespeare classics.

Shows are scheduled for August 17 and 18 at 7:30, with pre-show music at 6:30.  Ticket prices are $20, but just $12 for students.  Make your reservations by calling 505.988.1234 or online at ticketssantafe.org.
