Art, Food and Fashion - The Best of Santa Fe

Guests of The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn are drawn to Santa Fe for many reasons, chief among them being the art scene and the cuisine.  During the upcoming 15th annual ARTfeast, from February 24-26, 2012, enjoy a weekend of delicious food and wine, fashion and fantastic art, all for a good cause.  Since its inception in 1998, this veritable feast for the senses has raised close to $1,000,000 to help fund art classes in Santa Fe's public schools.

The Edible Art Tour, perhaps the most popular event of the weekend, brings together 40 Canyon Road and downtown galleries with over 40 top Santa Fe restaurants and caterers, each showcasing their best talents.  This evening of superb food and art takes places on Friday, February 24, from 5-8pm.  Tickets are $35.

Other highlights of the weekend are the Friday Runway Show and Luncheon at the Inn at Loretto, Saturday's Free Home Tour and the Gourmet Dinner and Auction at Encantado Resort, and Sunday's  Artist's Champagne Brunch and Auction at the Scottish Rite Temple.

This is a great weekend to be in Santa Fe!

Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of International Folk Art

The International Folk Art Museum is a favorite destination for many guests at The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn who love both the permanent collections and the special exhibitions.  The museum also offers Educational Events and Presentations throughout the year, many of which are truly illuminating and fascinating.  One such event takes place when MOIFA celebrates Black History Month on Sunday, February 5, 2012, from 1pm-4pm.

Plan to arrive in plenty of time to see West African Drumming and Dance, with showtimes at 1pm and 3pm, performed by Akeem Ayanniyi & Agalu.  At 2pm join author  Vaunda Micheaux Nelson as she presents her book, Almost to Freedom,  a story of a young girl's journey to freedom via the Underground Railroad as told by her doll.  The story was inspired by the African American Dolls in the museum's Girard Wing.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am-5pm.
Admission is $6 for New Mexican residents and $9 for non-residents.
Sunday admission is free to residents of New Mexico.
