Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of International Folk Art

The International Folk Art Museum is a favorite destination for many guests at The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn who love both the permanent collections and the special exhibitions.  The museum also offers Educational Events and Presentations throughout the year, many of which are truly illuminating and fascinating.  One such event takes place when MOIFA celebrates Black History Month on Sunday, February 5, 2012, from 1pm-4pm.

Plan to arrive in plenty of time to see West African Drumming and Dance, with showtimes at 1pm and 3pm, performed by Akeem Ayanniyi & Agalu.  At 2pm join author  Vaunda Micheaux Nelson as she presents her book, Almost to Freedom,  a story of a young girl's journey to freedom via the Underground Railroad as told by her doll.  The story was inspired by the African American Dolls in the museum's Girard Wing.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am-5pm.
Admission is $6 for New Mexican residents and $9 for non-residents.
Sunday admission is free to residents of New Mexico.
