New Exhibit Opening at The O'Keeffe Museum

Museum lovers at The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn over the past couple of weeks were disappointed to learn that the O'Keeffe Museum was closed during their stay.  Of course with museums like the International Folk Art and the New Mexico History Museum to explore, these guests were kept occupied.  The good news is that the O'Keeffe Museum will be re-opening on January 27, 2012 with a new exhibit titled Jaune Quick-To-See Smith:  Landscapes of an American Modernist

Jaune Quick-to-See has lived in New Mexico since 1976 and is one of the better-known Native American artists of the late 20th century.  Her paintings, like those of O'Keeffe's, reflect a close personal connection to the landscape of New Mexico.  As a modern abstractionist, her use of vibrant colors and thick layers of paint succeed in bringing to life a new interpretation of the stunning Land of Enchantment.

Her works are part of permanent collections of such notable museums as The Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.  It is a fine treat indeed to have her work on view in Santa Fe.

This exhibition will run from January 27 through April 29, 2012.

General Admission is $12, with discounts for New Mexico Residents, Seniors and Students
Open Daily 10am - 5pm, and until 8pm on Fridays
