Santa Ski Basin Hoping to Open on Thanksgiving

The beautiful Santa Fe Ski Basin, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is just a short drive from The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn.  With a base of 15 inches, coupled with ongoing snowmaking and a storm forecasted for early next week, there is a good chance the mountain will open on Thanksgiving Day.  A final decision will be posted on the Ski Basin's website on November 22, 2011.

While the upper mountain will open a bit later in the season, the lower half of the resort offers numerous runs for both beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.  Half day (9am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-4pm) lift tickets are $48 for adults, with a full day pass costing $63.  Group and private lessons are available as well, and not a bad idea to get your ski legs operating again.  Should you need to rent equipment, there is a full range of rental equipment on the mountain.  To avoid the rental lines, you might consider getting outfitted in advance at Cottam's Ski Shop, located at the base of the mountain.

Keep your fingers crossed for lots of snow!

13th Annual Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival

Being members of the Green Hotels Association, we take recycling seriously at The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn. However, the participants in the upcoming 13th Annual Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival take recycling to a higher level, turning daily refuse into art and fashion.

The event, which features a wild and crazy Trash Fashion & Costume Contest, an Art Market (a great place to begin your holiday shopping) and a Juried Art Exhibit, will take place on November 11, 12 and 13 at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe.

Admission to the show is $5 on Friday night, and $10 for both the Art Market and Trash Fashion Show.
The Market is free on both Saturday and Sunday.
Friday hours are 5pm-9pm.
Saturday hours at 9am-5pm.
Sunday hours are 10am-5pm.
