Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Back in Santa Fe

The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, now in the midst of a national tour culminating in August at the renowned Jacob's Pillow, will be stopping through Santa Fe for two nights.  Guests of The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn will want to get tickets for one of these mind-blowing performances taking place at The Lensic Performing Arts Center on March 11 and 12.

To celebrate their 15th anniversary season, the mixed repertory program will debut two new pieces from master choreographers Jiri Kylian and Nicolo Fonte in what promises to be an exhilerating performance.

Says Pulitzer prize winning dance critic Sarah Kaufman of The Washington Post:  “Took hold of your heart and never let go - it still gives me chills.”  I feel the same way every time I see this innovative and talented young company.

The Music Man, Not in River City, But Right Here in Santa Fe!

Looking for some uplifting entertainment while in Santa Fe?  Whether you are a guest at The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn or not, you will want to order your tickets now for "The Music Man", one of Broadway's most popular musicals. The production will be presented at The Lensic Performing Arts Center for one show only, at 3pm on Sunday, March 6.

The show became a major Broadway hit in 1957, winning a total of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, running for 1,375 performances.

"The Music Man" will be performed by Windwood theatricals, an enterprise that has produced popular hits on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theaters throughout the United States.  Their Santa Fe production of "Cabaret" in 2010 was a big success, so there will no doubt be a strong demand for their 2011 production  of "The Music Man".

Through the Looking Glass with Button Wagon

Here is some off-the-wall entertainment for guests of The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn and Santa Fe locals looking for a mind-bending experience.  Let your imagination run wild with an evening of surreal entertainment by contortionist/illusionist performers Ember Bria and Matt McCorkle.  The duo, known as Button Wagon, makes use of over-sized props (a three-foot-long sewing needles, a spool of thread large enough to fit a person, a button as big as an x-large pizza and, last but not least, a four foot tall rabbit made of sewn burlap), mime, magic tricks and contortionist moves to tell a fantastical tale.  This circus/theater performance is a delight to audiences of all ages.

After a six month international tour, Button Wagon will perform in Santa Fe at the Railyard Performance Center on February 25 and 26 at 7:30pm.

Tickets to be sold at the door.  General Admission is $15.  Students and Seniors $12.

Jazz Meets the Classics

The Madeleine Bed & Breakfast Inn is a home away from home for both classical and jazz musicians coming to Santa Fe throughout the year.  This Sunday, guests and locals alike will be treated to a bit of both musical styles when the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra brings 'Jazz Meets the Classics' to the Lensic Performing Arts Center

The program unites the Santa Fe Symphony with Grammy Award Winner Danilo Perez and his Trio for an evening of works by Duke Ellington, Scott Joplin and Perez's own rendition of works by Rachmaninov.  With his unique blend of Pan-American jazz, integrating the music of the Americas, folkloric and world music, Perez is viewed as one of the most important and exciting musicians performing today.  In fact, he was awarded the 2009 Legacy Award from the Smithsonian Latino Center for his contribution to American culture.

Deals Galore at Sign of the Pampered Maiden

Guests of The Madeleine Bed and Breakfast Inn know that Santa Fe is noted for its particular style of dress - a mix of artsy bohemian, not too dressy, but definitely a unique style that is emulated all over the country.  Sign of the Pampered Maiden is a veritable Santa Fe institution, having been in business now for close to 40 years, where you can find just this sort of stylish attire.

They have fabulous dresses, tops, jeans and skirts, along with some of the coolest earrings around.  Besides this irrestistible collection, there is yet another reason to stop into this boutique, as they are in the midst of their Annual Winter Sale.  You will find deals galore, with winter goods priced at 30%-70% below retail.

Another plus - the sales staff is made up of really warm and friendly women who will help you find just the right outfit for your shape and style.  If you are looking for something not found in your everyday large department store, this is the place to go.
