Following in O-Keefe's Tradition

The Madeleine Bed and Breakfast Inn has hosted many artists over the years, but here is activity for artists and non-artists alike to enjoy with their children.  On Saturday, January 29, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum will host a workshop for families to create sculptures along the lines of O'Keeffe paintings.

As many of you know, Georgia O'Keeffe was known for her fascination with bones, rocks, sticks and shells, which featured prominently in many of her paintings.  This workshop, 'Sculpting Abstract Forms', will help you and your children to create works of art using these materials pulled right from nature.  No previous art experience or knowledge is necessary - just bring yourselves and let your creative juices begin to flow under the expert guidance of the program leaders.

The workshop runs from 9:30-11:30 and is FREE to the public.  You will want to go to the Museum Education annex which is located at 123 Grant Avenue.  Reservations are not necessary, but I would recommend that you call ahead to ensure space.

You may want to tour the museum when you are finished with your own creation.  Entrance to the museum is $10 for adults, $8 for students.  Museum  hours are 10-5, seven days a week.
